Bluestone is a 248,000 square-foot, fully redundant Tier 3+ data center with two separate data halls, which was built with a fast-track schedule and extremely challenging site logistics.
The building was fed with two dedicated 13.8KV utility feeders, and five 13.8KV generators with room for expansion. Each generator could be selected by one of the two parallel switchgear lineups. Two main 13.8KV distribution switchgear lineups distributed utility and generator power to UPS and mechanical 13.8KV to 480V substations arranged in a M-T-T-M configuration. Four parallel redundant UPS fed PDUs and RPPs in each data hall. Ducci installed the 13.8KV generators, main 13.8KV distribution switchgear, generator parallel switchgear and control switchboard, 480V double end substations, 480V MCCs, UPS and associated batteries, PDUs and RPPs and associated 13.8KV feeders, 480 feeders, DC feeders, VESDA, SCADA, as well as electrical power monitoring, fire alarm, and battery monitoring systems.
With a fast-track schedule, complicated coordination and installation of underground and overhead feeders, difficult deliveries and installations due to lack of onsite storage, and problematic installations due to limited access through a freight elevator shaft, this Project is a shining example of Ducci’s ability to coordinate, manage, and deliver the needs of even the most demanding designs and schedules.
